ok i've been working on a writing for about four years....on and off of course, but still devoted and allways adding to the story and its characters all the time...well last night i had a shock that i wasnt expecting at all! and some of you may not believe this and thats fine...but here it is about 70% of the movie 10,000 BC mirrors my writing there are so many similarities i walked out thinking Wow they did a very beautiful job and i was also thinking hey since my plot was basically the same i would not want to be considered a copy cat of any kind. maybe this just gives/forces me to make up another plot...but my god four years of depending on one story line and now i either have to change it drastically or forget it...i'm not writer for income...so thank god my cash flow does not depend on my writing...anyway im bummed...

This is a phenomenon that I believe many writers and artist experience; I have experienced this several times on a societal level and even within a personal group level; recently encountered this issue again. It is important to work at our art to release the art when the idea is fresh with reality and relevant, if you wait to long you will undoubtedly see a manifestation of your idea surface in society some how. This reflects the nature of creation and the human access to new ideas i.e. where do ideas come from, how were the thoughts that we formulated made available to ourselves-how are they made available to others? If we are to say that we write about things that are real and that life is real that we are admitting topic relevance as such we should then experience other artist describing their experience on such topics if the topic is in fact pertinent and relevant to our human experience.
At the same time though plagiarism exist; outright and subtlety; sometimes people steal ideas because those people suck. Other times people, including ourselves can get an idea from somewhere, from were we do not know and as such we think its our own idea, when in fact the idea came from one of the millions of input data that our brains are always calculating and interpreting at the sub-conscious level.
When I get quickened with ideas, meaning they come to society before I released my interpretation of the idea, I take from it the positive that I am aware and on the track of discovery and openness; that I am on the leading edge of thought and only need to act quicker being more "spontaneous" and fearless to release my art to the public. Good luck to you and thanks for bringing up the topic. Mad Mark

Yes! in an odd way im glad someone else has had that happen to them, i've actually had smaller versions of the same thing happen before...but i was not aware of any resources to market the idea + i was a kid in 7th grade and the other one i was working on was when i was...well lets just say life happens and we get lazy right...? so anyway i've got like one more great idea...im sure there will be more but for now im working on getting this one out there!
